IV Therapy – Glutathione

Glutathione is a primary intracellular antioxidant that is  essential to life.  It is involved in cellular differentiation and slows the aging process.  Unfortunately, glutathione levels decrease with age.  This antioxidant is useful to prevent radiation injury before treatment is started and is one of the strongest anti-cancer agents made by the body, inhibiting chemical induced carcinogenesis.  Through its association with the redox cycle and peroxide, glutathione improves the prognosis of stroke victims and is useful in any condition where there is risk of oxidative damage including prevention or reversal of alcohol induced fatty liver, cirrhosis, hepatitis, and liver tumors.  Glutathione is an important chelator of lead, mercury, cadmium, and arsenic making it a vital component of therapy for Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS). Glutathione also has an important role in immune function via white blood cell production and is a potent antiviral agent.

Dr David Perlmutter has done extensive research on the role glutathione has in reversing and preventing the progression of Parkinson’s disease.  The International Journal of General Medicine has concluded that amino acid management in Parkison’s disease is highly beneficial.

Unfortunately, glutathione is not well absorbed in the form of oral supplements which is why we provide intravenous glutathione here at our clinic.  For more information or to schedule a free 15 minute consultation to discuss whether glutathione therapy may be right for you, please call 916-351-9355.
